Before they were the Maple Leafs they were the St. Pats from 1919-1927. The Toronto St. Pats won the Stanley Cup in 1922. By 1927 the club was in trouble and was bought by an ownership led by Conn Smythe who renamed it the Toronto Maple Leafs.
