Who were the Toronto Huskies?

The Toronto Huskies were Toronto's first NBA team. The team was founded in 1946—the same year as the NBA. Even more interesting in the history of professional basketball in Canada: The first NBA game ever took place in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens on November 1st, 1946 between the Toronto Huskies and the New York Knickerbockers. The Huskies folded after one year in the league, and Toronto wouldn't get another NBA team for about 50 years, when the Toronto Raptors franchise was born in 1995. Today the Toronto Raptors have embraced the history by wearing Toronto Huskies jerseys at select games.
