Paine Proffitt is a well-regarded artist from the Philadelphia area, now based in England. He's worked with the Boston Red Sox, Minor League Baseball, West Bromwich Albion FC, Sunderland AFC, Aberdeen FC, Port Vale FC, Grimsby Town, Aston Villa, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and others. Proffitt also has artwork in the permanent collections of The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, The National Pastime Museum, The World Rugby Museum and exhibited at The National Football Museum.
The Mounties were a AAA minor league team that played in Vancouver from 1956-62 and 1965-69. The Mounties were affiliated with a number of Major League Baseball parent clubs: the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Braves, Minnesota Twins, the Athletics of both Kansas City and Oakland, and as a co-op club working with the expansion Seattle Pilots and Montreal Expos in 1969. Their first-ever manager was popular major leaguer Lefty O'Doul, and notable players (Sal Bando, Brooks Robinson, and Jim Bouton) wore the uniform. The Mounties played at Capilano/Nat Bailey Stadium, which is used today by the Vancouver Canadians.
This amazing, one-of-a-kind painting shows off Proffitt's signature style. It is rustic, textured, and extremely detailed.
