After 25 years of the Original Six teams, the league expanded West with 6 new teams: the Oakland Seals, St. Louis Blues, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Minnesota North Stars. Just like that, the NHL doubled in size. It would be the first of many expansions to come.
