The Northern Game
The Babe hit his first pro dinger at Hanlon’s Point on Toronto’s Centre Island in 1914, but pro ball had made its debut north of the 49th parallel almost half a century earlier. Canada’s love affair deepened with the arrival of the Expos in 1969 and the Blue Jays in 1977, and with Tim Raines’ induction in 2017 the two teams have contributed five names to Cooperstown’s hallowed halls.
