1998 Stanley Cup Finals: Game 4
One for Vladdie
Detroit vs Washington
4 - 1
16 June, 1998
Detroit won their second consecutive Stanley Cup in 1998, worth mentioning that both Cup Finals were a perfect 4-0 sweep, 8-0 combined. A golden era for the Red Wings. The title meant more than just success though. The iconic moment of Vladdie being wheeled out to hoist the cup was special.
1997 Stanley Cup Finals: Game 4
Ending the Drought
Detroit vs Philadelphia
2 - 1
7 June, 1997
Detroit has a ton of success, but from 1954 until 1996, the team failed to capture the title. Finally, in 1997 the drought was ended. McCarty, a defensemen, flashed his puck-handling skills as he deked his way to the net scoring the ultimate cup-winning goal. The Stanley Cup was back in Detroit.
1996 Western Conference Semifinals: Game 7
The Captain's Winner
Detroit vs St. Louis
1 - 0
16 May, 1996
Going up against Gretzky and his St. Louis team in a Game 7, the tight match was scoreless and was pushed into double overtime. Red Wings legend, Yzerman made one of the team's most iconic plays as he stole the puck off of Gretzky and rocketed a slapshot into the net to seal the series.
2002 Stanley Cup Finals: Game 3
Triple OT Thriller
Detroit vs Carolina
3 - 2
8 June, 2002
With the series tied 1-1, Game 3 remained tied and slipped into a third overtime. In the twilight of his career, "The Professor" taught everyone how to finish a game with his winning goal. The game became the 3rd longest Cup game in history and helped Detroit win it's 3rd Stanley Cup in 6 years.
