Shibe Park (Philadelphia Phillies/Athletics) Seat Cuff Links
These cuff links are crafted from authentic Shibe Park seat wood.
- Set in sterling silver with swivel findings, these cuff links feature the weathered painted surface of seats from which fans cheered for decades. Measures 5/8" square and back hallmarked "Seat From Shibe Park."
- Officially licensed by Major League Baseball, each pair of cuff links comes gift-boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The 1970's found most Major League Ballparks converting to plastic seats from wood. This product is crafted from the old, wooden seats. Due to the age of the wood and uniqueness of the seats, no two products will be exactly the same. The painted surfaces may be multicolored due to layers of paint.
Additional Product Information:
Shibe Park opened in 1909 as home to the Philadelphia Athletics whose president Ben Shibe managed the legal, financial and design aspects of the stadium. Made of steel-reinforced congrete, Shibe Park was the first of many ballparks to use this then-new technology that has become iconic to the stadium experience. The Athletics won their opening day game and went on to be World Series Champions in 1910, 1911, and 1913. The park was praised by players and fans alike for its elegant intimacy, and it sported the best playing surface in the major leagues. In 1938, the Phillies moved from Baker Bowl to Shibe and the stadium hosted two home teams until the A's moved to Kansas City in 1954. In 1947, Jackie Robinson made his Philadelphia debut and drew 41,680 fans, the largest single-day crowd at Shibe. The Park was closed in 1970 and deteriorated until it was demolished six years later.
