RFK Memorial Stadium Seat Colour Top Pen

$218.00 CAD

This pen is crafted from authentic RFK Memorial Stadium seat wood.

  • Measuring 5" long and a slim 7/16" in diameter, this rhodium-plated rollerball pen features the seat wood twice: the barrel is turned from the wood and the painted surface is set in the top. Engraved with ballpark name. Ships with rollerball cartridge (Schmidt P8126 or P8127) and can also accept "Parker style" ballpoint refill cartridges.
  • Also available in the Original Color Top and Classic styles, which have been discontinued and will not be produced after current stock is sold. The Original Color Top Pen's barrel diameter is larger for bigger hands. The Classic Pen ships with and accepts only ballpoint cartridges.
  • Each pen comes gift-boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The 1970's found most ballparks converting to plastic seats from wood. This product is crafted from the old, wooden seats. Due to the age of the wood and uniqueness of the seats, no two products will be exactly the same. The painted surfaces may be multicolored due to layers of paint.

Additional Product Information

RFK Stadium, originally D.C. Stadium, opened in 1961 as home to the NFL's Washington Football Team and was the fourth multi-sport facility designated for both baseball and football. In fact, it was the first "cookie-cutter" or "concrete donut" style stadium such that it is perfectly circular and features artifical turf that can withstand the reconfiguration of box seats when transitioning between the baseball and football playing fields. This design became popular in the 1960s and 1970s and was employed by many stadiums including Shea and Busch. The Washington Senators were established and based here the following year, after which they fumbled around in the American League until moving to Texas in 1972. RFK Stadium hosted both the 1959 and 1962 All Star Games. In 1971, the Senators had to forfeit the final game at RFK Stadium when souvenir-seeking fans swarmed the field with two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning. From 2005-2007, the Nationals became the second MLB team to call RFK home before they moved to Nationals Park. For more information, please visit Authentication.
